Committed on Purpose

Updated: Jan 12

The life that you are experiencing and the life you desire always seem to be far and in between. If you are unhappy with your current circumstances, it sometimes seems like there is no way out. If you are okay with your current placement but want more, you may feel like your dreams and aspirations are too far fetched and unattainable. This is your reminder that NONE.... of those statements are true and there is always time and opportunity to pivot.

Life is all about choices. We must choose everyday to continue to do the work required to reach our goals. This requires an inner motivation and diligence to meet the mark. The choices you make in life should be in connection to your purpose and goals. These actions are influenced by your commitment.

Commitment is an agreement or pledge to do something in the future or an instance of being obligated or emotionally impelled. - Merriam Webster

When you are committed to something, you are vowing to uphold yourself to the agreement and actions that the thing requires for productivity and success. This is a conscious decision to do only the things that fulfill the agreement or obligation that has been agreed upon. Your purpose and dreams won’t be fulfilled by happenstance ! You have to be purposeful and knowledgeable of what you are going after and what it takes to achieve that thing.

Where does your commitment lie at this very moment in life?

  • Do you know your purpose and the specifics in which you were called?

  • Are you engulfing yourself with the knowledge and tools needed to succeed in that area?

  • Are you connected to the right people that can guide you in that area?

  • Do you have a mentor or accountability partner?

  • Are your actions aligned with the goals and commitments in which you have pledged?

  • Do you lack the discipline needed to fulfill your commitment?

  • Are you participating in activities that are contrary to the commitment you made to yourself?

After assessing where you are, what did you discover? Does your commitment need a reboot or fine tuning? If so, determine what behaviors need to be altered in order to get back committed. You must be willing to take the next step purposefully in order to see the fruit of your commitment. Be intentional with what you have in your hands now and the rest will come as you continue along the journey.

Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3 NLT

You will discover the light within and nothing will be able to shake the commitment you have vowed to yourself and the purpose on the inside of you!

“Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.”

Psalms 37:5 NLT
